Ham Bone base - veggies and beans Soup.
Yum. Thought I'd share our dinner tonight.
Carrots
Celery
Garlic
Onion
ham bone (this was saved from thanksgiving - just tossed in freezer)
water
mustard powder
bay leaf
pepper
beans - i used red kidney, white kidney and black - i cook dry beans in big batches, then freeze in containers for later use - i just pulled out 3 containers and that's what i plopped into the pot. *grin*
i just pulled from my pantry area all the veggies - some were garden harvests (garlic, onion, carrots) others were courtesy of our local Aldi (cash only grocery store - LOVE that place!)
really no way to go wrong. mince up a garlic bulb ('cause this time of year you cannot ingest too much garlic - garlic will help cure your illnesses from the inside out - good medicine - and yummy eats)
chop up an onion,, dice a bunch of ribs of celery, tossed in 5 good sized carrots diced up, sprinkle some mustard powder on and some pepper - used black and white today (couldn't decide,, grin) and gently push into this whole pot of yumminess a couple bay leaves. (try to remember them at dinner time and pull them out)
yeah. dinner is easy and yummy and simmers gently on the back of the stove all day.
pull some of those frozen dinner roll things (rhodes brand) if you're feeling tired and don't want to knead up so dough - let it set out all day and pop in the oven about 20 minutes before you want to call the troops for dinner.
yum.
comfort food.
this freezes really well, too so never fear you won't be eating this all week - just let it cool a bit and ladle it into freezer containers and enjoy on a busy night you don't have time to cook.

Anything that starts with "soup-bone" is good-stuff in my book ...
