Harvested my tomatoes today
It is a somewhat bittersweet occasion as it really signals the end of the growing season for me but considering that it is Thanksgiving weekend here, that is not too bad. I have 5 lbs of tomatoes in a basket half red ones and some almost red as well as some green ones that fell off the vines as I pulled them up. Then I have about 10 more pounds that I left on the vines and will hang up down in the cool room/wine cellar. Counting the others that we have already picked and eaten I guess I will have gotten about 25 pounds of tomatoes from 6 plants of Early Girl. That is a lower harvest than last year but I had more plants last year too.

Re: Harvested my tomatoes today
Congrats, that's still really great! I am ripening green tomatoes indoors from mine. Brought one in to work the other day to make a tomato sammie for lunch, and people couldn't believe I still had tomatoes in October.
Re: Harvested my tomatoes today
Mine are sitting on the porch in boxes, slowing doing their ripening think.

Re: Harvested my tomatoes today
I was about to pull everything last weekend, but we had a cool spell, temps in the mid-80's. I had a few scraggly vines left, like 5 to 6 feet of main stem and then a tuft of leafy vegetation at the very top..and suddenly I had this flurry of growth and blossoms.
I now have like 18 golfball size tomatos on my pitiful scraggly vines...don't pack it all in yet !!
