What is this bug? Friend or Foe?
I have this bug all over my brocolli (yes I grew broccoli late). I can't figure out what it is, but it seems to only be on my brocolli. Can someone tell me if this is a good bug or bad bug to have in the garden?

We had the same bug on our turnip leaves a few days ago here in Modesto...not sure what it is but we didn't find any holes in the leaves so we're thinking it's a good bug!

I've never seen anything like that before, but a quick Google found this... does this look about right?

Harlequin Cabbage Bug -- it's a bad bug. It likes to suck the juices of your broccoli and cabbage. http://bugguide.net/node/view/557
Found it on my broccoli too a couple of weeks ago. It's a pretty bug though!

Ick. I will have to keep a lookout for it. My one cabbage plant has finally awoken from its slumber!

Thanks. I figured my broccolli died from our heat. I guess it was this bug... and the heat.

Hey, welcome to the forum, tzimmerm!
Sorry to hear about your broccoli. I think many of us have had a tough year in one way or another. I had good luck with broccoli raab this spring til the flea beetles got it. May try it again here shortly....

I think I am going to call it the Transylvania cabbage bug. Maybe I should grow garlic next to my broccoli to keep it away.

Look at the Harlequin bug's egg cases! I haven't seen any of them, just the bugs, but I may start looking.

P.S. to boffer...I'm not sure we should let you have any more cursors to play with!
