Marigolds not blooming?
What would make marigolds not bloom after 4 months? They're tall and the foliage is full and green. They were planted in one of my first boxes that I only had 2 or 3 different kinds of compost in...I ended up adding some Miracle Grow organic fertilizer for my veggies that weren't growing and they have all done pretty well, but my marigolds just never bloomed. Does this mean too much nitrogen? Do marigolds do better in poorer soil?
It's been so long since I've planted them that I've forgotten what color the flowers are!
Thanks,
Rhonda

BUMP
I have no idea, actually... my marigolds failed to sprout at all. And here I was thinking they are bomb-proof! Can anyone please help Rhonda? :?:

Re: Marigolds not blooming?
Thanks, Megan.
It's 3 weeks later now, and the marigolds are tall, green and lush but still no blooms! I've decided that I must have added too much fertilizer (especially nitrogen). I'm going to leave them there for now...we have a few more weeks until the first expected frost in October so I'll see what happens...who knows? ...maybe I'll get some beautiful fall blooms

Re: Marigolds not blooming?
I planted mine late, in June, and they are finally about 2 foot tall putting out buds. My fingers are crossed for yours!
