Right now I have 1 - 4'x4'x6", 1 -1'x3'x6", and 1 2'x4'x6" box. Plan on building at least 1 more 4'x4' box and a 2'x2'x12" box by end of week. I also have the materials ready to build 2 trellises. Since I have never Need help with first SFG Affraid gardened before I need help with the lay out of the plants/seeds. The companion charts on the internet are driving me crazy.

Here is what I have:

Plants

Tomato
Cucumber
Banna Pepper
Jalopeno Pepper
Chard
Butter Crunch Lettuce
Green Bell Pepper

Seeds:

Crookkneck squash
Pickle Cucumber
Snap beans - Blue Lake -bush
Lima Beans - Nemagreen -bush
radish
onion

Okra - Clemson Spinless (Would like to put Okra and corn together)
Corn - Truckers Favorite
Carrots - Danvers (These will go in 2x2x12 box)

Can some one please help me on where to plant what in which square? All of the boxes get lots of sunlight every day.

I picked all of these because of two reasons: First we love to eat all of these and second I do know how to can or freeze these as well. I usually just buy them at farmers market but decided this would be a great project and would be cheaper in the long run (can't see spending $55 a bushel on beans).

Hi,
I will offer a little help for the 2x4 bed. I would plant the squash on 2x2 end and the tomato on the other end in a corner spot. That way the tomato can sprawl into a path when it gets big and the squash can work its way around the rest of the bed and fill in bits. I like the tomato, marigold and basil companion grouping, however you have not mentioned two of those plants. I am sure you will get lots of help from other folks. Happy gardening.

Hi Christine,

I'm with you, planning companion planting used to drive me crazy too-so I quit worrying about it! I'm sure others can have your garden layed out in no time though.

That being said, the one planting combination that has always interested me is called 'the three sisters'. Corn, beans, and squash co-mingling. You can google it for lots of info about it.
