MICRO-SLUGS??

Ok new to the north west...I have seen few slugs and snails in my adult life, but the ones I have seen are long, anywhere from 2 inches to 5 inches and they are like a snail without a shell?? They leave a trail like a snail right??

Ok so...Im in my garden and I have found three things that LOOK like a slug, but they are light in color(like fleshy color) more like a worm than a slug, they are shaped like a slug, that tear droppy kinda shape...and they are MICROSCOPIC in terms of slug size, what I would deem NORMAL. They are like less than a 1/2 inch long....I have seen ZERO evididence, no trails etc...just these little Micro-snails. Are they babies? Something else? I do have sunflowers whose bottom leaves are turning yellow and dying...but no major damage going on anywhere in the garden...what the heck are these things?

I will try the beer/mayo lid tomorrow after I go buy beer...hubby is irritated I will run for beer for the garden and not him...LMAO!!!

But I guess I am just not sure they are slugs??? Anyone have any thoughts on this?

I don't know if they are babies or a different kind, but they are the only kind I find around here and only during a long cool rainy spell. They do the same kind of damage as the bigger ones -- just not as drastic.

I have only seen the flesh colored ones around here and they range in size from a tiny water droplet to just over an inch but mostly under one inch. These are what I am battling right now with all our wet weather and flooding.

Where are these micro-meanies? Are they on all your plants or only some of them? I ask because I have been finding similar creatures on my tomatillos. I pick the leaves and put them in soapy water. I don't think they're slugs, more likely the larvae of Colorado potato beetles.

I have found 3. One was on my garlic. One was at the base of my largest sunflower stalk, near the dirt...I thought it was a worm poking up out of the ground until I touched it. And the third i found on the outside of my boxup under the lip of the box, not near a plant at all.

I had a few of the tiny grey ones - the saucer of beer seemed to make quick work of them.

Happily, I haven't had any more big red slugs since I threw the last one over the fence (into the vacant lot next door)

Yes, the micro ones are usually baby slugs, here they are kinda greyish in color, 4mm in length and sometimes you will find 2 or 3 on the same stalk almost lined up. SMUSH THEM!! SMUSH THEM! They will be the bane of your marigolds and basil.
