Cabbage or turnip root fly
anyone know any prevention? I thought I posted this put cant seem to find where, if I did
I lost all the turnips I had planted, they were getting to harvest size (three were) and when I went to pull them they were all munched through and it looked like a maze of tunnels inhabited by icky white creates, maggots.
so what the heck do I do? I want to plant more turnips and even rutabage but I am so nervous!

I am not certain, but I think for any underground stuff, beneficial nematodes are helpful. It may take a season though.

I would plant in a differnt box with new MM and cover with floating row cover to keep the flies out. You can keep those guys covered all season snice you don't need bees. That's my plan anyway.

Re: Cabbage or turnip root fly
Opps, this is kinda old, but I just decided against planting certain plants this year. No brassicas for us because the worms are just too crazy, even with picking picking picking and covering, spraying. I decided just not to waste the space and put in more tomatoes, peppers and stuff we like. Although I will miss the collard greens
