I will post some photos tomorrow. I have about a bazillion tomato flowers - everyone please keep your fingers crossed for me. I have some baby peppers, zucchinis, way too many tomatillos (I told my husband we didn't need that many tomatillo plants!).

I have sugar snap pea sprouts. Carrots and scallions are doing so-so. It's almost time to start radishes again, but I am a wimp - they haven't worked yet, and we love using watermelon radishes. When grown correctly they are mild, but mine have been skinny little roots or Monthly update time! (aka - yes, it is July 1 already!) Icon_eek hot.

Surprisingly enough I finally figured out how to post a photo from my
prehistoric desktop. It takes f o r e v e r to upload (I seriously need
to enter the 21st century and upgrade). So a photo report, I finally made an album in the gallery.

I didn't get my last box in yet, recovering from hand surgery. It's very difficult to not be working in the garden.
My most recent harvest was some lovely 1.5" beets, beet greens, shallots, lettuce, chard, pickling cukes are almost ready. Having a few pest issues and the second round of peas is close at hand. I had early carrot failure but reseeded with better success.

camprn....Good picture. Your garden looks good.

I posted on the wrong thread earlier so I'll go back and try to delete it. I put my news in Canada's Regional.
In Maine we had a lovely spring, early and warm. I've harvested radishes, mesclun mix, lettuces, spinach, chard, broccoli and even Violet Queen cauliflower.
Monthly update time! (aka - yes, it is July 1 already!) 06-19-10
This is one of the Violet Queens that my family said has a wonderful taste similar to broccoli only better. My white Freemont Cauliflowers are just forming heads now.
Monthly update time! (aka - yes, it is July 1 already!) 06-28-14
Here's one of my Freemonts being blanched by using a clothespin to pull the leaves up around its forming head to keep it white.
Even my herbs of basil, parsley, chives, rosemary and lemon balm are doing well and I cut them as needed. The sugar snap peas and lettuces I harvest daily. I keep starting new lettuce seeds in my A-frame and transplant them under the leaves of broccoli and cauliflower to keep them cooler.
The carrots are very slow but they are growing at last and the parsnips I'm trying this year took forever and a day to germinate, but they are now growing as well.
The scallions and garlic chives don't seem to be doing anything at all.

I'm eagerly awaiting the warm-weather crops now.
For warm-weather crops I've got tons of blossoms on my organic open-pollinated tomatoes (I plan to save lots of seed this year) but my Oregon Spring Tomatoes have lots of nice, healthy green tomatoes already.
Monthly update time! (aka - yes, it is July 1 already!) 06-28-11
These are some on one of my three Oregon Springs. I believe the daily tapping on the blossoming branches helped distribute the pollen so I'm getting a lot of tomatoes growing. Oregon Spring is a determinate variety.
Monthly update time! (aka - yes, it is July 1 already!) 06-30-11
I even have itty bitty tomatoes on my Matt's Wild Cherry tomato plant.
I have green peppers on two of my pepper plants, Jalapeno and Ace.
Monthly update time! (aka - yes, it is July 1 already!) 06-28-13
These are on the Ace pepper plant. Very small but I'm smiling.
There are purple blossoms on two of my eggplants.
My four zucchini plants have several large golden blossoms.
The cucumbers, squashes, watermelons and cantaloupes are starting to grow nicely as well but not anywhere near setting blossoms.
My cabbages, Super Red 80s, are under insect barrier row cover and to date no trouble wtih insects or flea beetles. No holes.
Monthly update time! (aka - yes, it is July 1 already!) 06-28-12
Here's a peek under the cabbage row cover. All doing fine.
Of course, I lost all my nice red strawberries one day. I was eagerly planning all the shortcakes and desserts from the big haul and then went to the garden the next day and they were all gone. Eaten by birds or something that didn't bother anything else in the garden. I learned a hard leasson. I should have covered them with row cover as soon as those berries started to grow. I hope the later bearing Sequoias will give us some berries so we don't lose out entirely this year. As soon the blossoms drop and start berries, they'll be under row cover for sure.
Happy July and Great Gardening everyone!

Thank you all for the great pictures! They are inspiration to a newbie like me!

Here's the news -- I have a squash! (small summer squash) Tomatoes are popping out all over but still very small. I cut out my broccoli and spinach as it had gone to seed. Will try again.

BUT... biggest news is the Japanese beetles arrived yesterday in full force! I scraped several dozen into soapy water yesterday and today, but they decimated one of my peppers and I don't want them to do that to my tomatoes! Boy they'll eat anything, won't they? Any tips for controlling these pests would be appreciated.

Also I notice a hornet or wasp type creature hanging out on my lettuce. Will that do damage?

Looking forward to some rain......

how big are your wasps? If they are tiny, they are wonderful little parasitic wasps that will eat any tomato hornworms silly enough to invade their territory.

Sorry that I haven't posted photos as promised.

Okay, it's not nice to brag, but....I have so many tomato blossoms and so many tomatoes that I can't get a good photo! Today for the first time some of the tomatoes are starting to show color

Good morning all,

Martha, my wasps are full size regular looking things. My sense is that they are just drinking the water from the lettuce leaves after I water (since we've had NO rain since July 20, but who's counting?) Is that something they do?

Enjoying all the emoticon-silliness---
