I took a couple of photos yesterday to share. The first one is an infant butternut squash growing on a trellis.

The next one is my Black Aztec Mexican corn. We grow it for corn meal, but we also eat field corn fresh during roasting ear stage. Boffer, this one's payback for the Tim trick. Photos of corn and squash Icon_razz Photos of corn and squash Icon_smile

You and Dixie both-teasing me with your silks!

It's my favorite veggie, and I won't be getting any this year because of the weather very sad

Lucky you getting corn. I tried it last year and they didn't grow. Probably the deluge of rain we had most of June and the whole month of July.
This year I decided not to bother, but I planted Butternut Squash and hope to have some likle yours soon here in Maine.
Love the pictures.

This is my squash bed. The two in front are Butternut with the 3 small ones behind them Acorn Honey Bear Squash. The biggies are zucchinis.
No fruits yet, just blossoms on the zucchinis.

Photos of corn and squash Empty No corn?

I feel sorry for people who can't enjoy fresh sweet corn every year. When our daughter's friend moved to Alaska, they told her fresh corn was one of the things they missed most. She visited them one summer and took a huge duffle bag stuffed with just-picked sweet corn along on the plane. She said they ate half of it the first night she arrived.

Now if we could only figure out how to grow Maine lobsters in our pond to go with all that corn, we'd be doing just fine. Photos of corn and squash Icon_smile

Ander...I know what you mean about lobster. I live in Maine and when my quilting buddy and I go on our quilt hops to differernt shops for fabric 3 or 4 times a year, our lunches are always at places that serve lobster so we can get our lobster rolls and compare. I love those lobster rolls.
