Old book vs new book
I've just realised that I have the 'old' book, not the 'new' book.
Does anyone have both, and can you tell me if it's worth buying the new book?
Is there any extra/better/new info in there that will make my SFG better, or is my 'old' book ok?
Thanks.

Re: Old book vs new book
I have both -- actually I have the dollar store edition of the new book as I didn't want to spend the extra. The old book is basically about gardening in-ground and spends quite a bit of time on soil amendment, etc. The new book uses raised beds and Mel's mix and does a bit better on describing trellising, various covers for protection. It also has a larger variety of detailed info on veggies and herbs in the back. Most of the info in the new book is found on the SFG website or this forum, so I wouldn't think you'd need the new book unless, like me, you are a garden book collector.

Re: Old book vs new book
I was curious about the old book too. Does it have any information that might be useful? Doesn't it have a recipe for organic fertilizer?
Re: Old book vs new book
If you check Amazon.com (actual link) for the new book, it has an interactive book that let's you search it. And actually... you can look at the ENTIRE book... I honestly almost didn't buy the book because the whole book was, essentially, free. I don't know if they fixed it yet or not, but if you want to check it out that's the best place to do it. (I did end up buying the book, I prefer to have resources at hand rather than relying on the unreliable internet).
Re: Old book vs new book
The all new book has a lot of new information. In fact, we don't sell the old book because of the number of changes that the new book has. Hope that helps. Alan

Re: Old book vs new book
Thanks guys.
I LOVE my old book, it's on my bedside table and I usually refer to it a couple of nights a week. It has so much basic good usefull information.
I'd never heard of Mel's Mix until I came on this forum.
kimbertangleknot - thanks for the link, I'll go check it out.

Re: Old book vs new book
OK - I just bit the bullet & bought both the new book & the cook book.
I had a look through the new book on Amazon & there is a lot of new info & some really good tips.
I love the sound of the cook book as it has reciepies that are based on just a hand full of ingredients at a time, which is the way the garden produces them.
Now I'm hungry after reading all that....
