Woohoo! Awesome! I am enjoying watching my onions the last few days. Every day I go out there and they are just growing like crazy. Gotta love it!

Boy, what I wouldn't do to have full sun. LOOK at your garden!!!! It's amazing. I'm calling the city next week to come and lop off my neighbor's crappy junk tree branches that are "on the power lines" and hopefully I'll get some more sun.

Those onions look tastey!!

Josh, your gardening savvy amazes me. I wish I had half as much.
Maybe I'll gain more knowledge as the years pass.
Your onions are terrific. I wish now I'd planted some this year after seeing yours. I used the last of my onions from last year about 2 weeks ago.

Josh, are you planting species that are known for getting big, or are these just holy-cow specimens?

Just curiousity -- whatever it is you're doing, keep doing it! (then come over and touch my SFG so everything in it will get big, too!)

Chopper I planted March 31 and I used onion sets. This is the first time we have let the onions grow big, usually I eat them when they are little, I didn't know I liked onions till last year I tried them, now I just pull one up,wash it off,cut off the roots, and eat it right out in the garden.

LaFee only the carrots are a special "big" kind. Everything else just grew good because of Mel's mix. I have a DVD of Mel and Suzy teaching SFG and Suzy is pulling up huge carrots and one is so big Mel has to grab onto suzy while she is pulling it out and help her pull it out big as baseball.... Icon_razz When I saw those carrots I had to have some big ones growing in my SFG too!

That DVD is in the SFG store and it's worth the money just to see Suzy and Mel pulling up carrots SFG DVD

big as baseball.... Empty Josh - question about onions

Post  GloriaG 6/22/2010, 11:36 am

Hi Josh,

I also think you're SFG knowledge is awesome and that your onions are wonderful!

I noticed that your onions are all at least half exposed. Mine are much deeper and the bulbs aren't as large - although you're right they're very tasty.

Should I take some of the top layer of MM off to let the onions "see the light of day"?

Thanks

Gloria i went out and took a look at the onions in my SFG that are not as big yet,and they are completely covered with Mel's mix still. I think just leave yours covered up and they will expose the tops as they grow.

Thank you Josh, big as baseball.... 109486

I appreciate your insight. These are the first onions I've grown so I wasn't quite sure.
