Just to throw this in. When you pinch the suckers off of your tomato plants. You can stick it into the MM and it will grow a new plant.

Sucker refers to the new growth starting at a leaf's node. I saw this picture on another post, about pruning... If you leave all the suckers, you will have a bushy tomato.

I read about that. Its a good idea to try near the end of the season to extend your crops, especially if you have a coldframe or A-frame against harsh weather.
Just nip a sucker off a healthy plant, put it in a glass of water and when roots start to form, plant it in your coldframe or a container to bring into the house if you can give it enough sunlight. It will grow a whole new plant.
I've never done it, but I plan to try that this year.

As I was pinching suckers. I just stuck my finger in the MM, planted the little suckers. Have kept watered. They are rooting. Cool....
