Hog fence makes a great trellis, its also heavy, but it bends perfectly. It was staying in place without the tposts but I prefer reinforcement. My niece is a little camera shy, can't you tell

Here's what we did with the leftover cement.

I love the idea of the trellis making a sort of arbor between your boxes like that... very clever! My imagination just switched into hyper-drive.... a couple of rows of boxes with similar trellises between them with plenty of space for a garden bench/nook under it.... ice tea... breeze.... ahhhhh......

Trellis #2
Selandra, please don't forget to post pictures of your trellis when it's all filled in with vegetation. It should look beautiful!

Oh, that's going to be so gorgeous when it's covered with plants! It will make a great garden house for kids, too.

That's exactly what I want! Need to find me some hog fencing. Farm supply store?
Re: Trellis #2 finally up.
Salendra, I love that idea of making a walking way for the kids it will make it so fun for them when it has vines all over it.
Most farm supplies and feed stores would have hog panels.
We used to use them for goat fencing, you could put a fence up in no time with four hog panels

Something is eating my replies.. well if at first you don't succeed...
I realized that they are cattle panels not hog, there is a difference. The squares are even on the cattle. Any farm store should have some and thier not to pricey.
Mine I got off our farm we bought last year. The panels are 16' long. It was heavy carrying it myself, up hill, in the heat, with the bugs, and barefoot... well all except the barefoot part

It's easy to turn into a trellis, I just used some tposts we had lying around to anchor it.
LOVE IT!!!
Wow! I really love it! I wonder if it makes that much difference where it is. I read some where (here in the forum I believe) that all your trellises should be on the north side of your garden so not to block out sun from the other plants...? Any comments? I suppose if there is some shading caused by vine plants growing on a southern trellis it would be perfect for leaks and other partly shady crops? Got to plan this one out, I gotta have one!!!
