Can I use this as compost?
Have some woods behind the house where the gardeners dump the grass clippings, garden weeds and old plant removals that I do and years and years of leaves falling from the trees. Is this valuable and if so, what is the best way to utilize.
Much appreciated.... Steve

Yes... and No.
It's probably fine and there are lots of goodies in it, however, you don't know about any residual herbicides or what some of the plants died from. It is recommended not to compost plants with disease..
Your call.

If the dumped materials are from your property, and you know what you used and didn't use, it should be okay.

Re: Can I use this as compost?
probably better for me not to - grass clippings had pesticides, weed killer, etc over the years

Since you don't have any way of knowing the origin of the material thrown there, it probably should not be used in vegetable gardens. It would probably be useful for flower beds or around fruit trees, but not for vegetables. Just my 2 cents worth, with change.

What about unused coconut coir (thought I was going to need this much for a snake enclosure but didn’t)?
