Spring 2023 in the UK
Spring has sprung 11 April 2023 .... if it gets much colder & wetter I'm buying my seeds a thermal wet suit and scuba gear each.
Happy to say two weeks ago most of the seeds were started off in my famous bottomless seed growing tubes .
Olha our hosted Ukrainian refugee ( & 7 yr old son ) was chomping at the bit , her telling me I had to get everything sown by the first of April ( 15 oC in Ukraine last week ) . She did not realise that my 250 square foot of ANSFG cannot compete with her families 5 acres of a hundred years under manual cultivation & that our growing climate is quite different to where she used to love just north of the Donbas.
So we spent some time drawing to plan the beds and using my big special made by me weekly planned designed by me how our garden ought to turn out this year.
She gave me some self grown & harvested flower seeds grown by her mum last year ,, ASTRA they look good at about 30 inches tall .. nigh on a thousand seeds ..... these got sown in seed trays 10 x 8 inches by 2 inches deep ... They are just breaking the ground on the glasshouse racking . T'will be fun pricking them out and potting them on in seed tubes

Plantoid, That is so nice of you to host the lady and her son. Did she bring some other seeds? Since she is interested in gardening, you make a good fit.

A learning experience for all, no doubt. So glad they found a safe and nice spot to be while the chaos goes on in Ukraine. I will have to see what kind of weather they have there…
