Anyone try growing pineapples?
Hey all,
We just recently moved into a new (to us) house where an older couple had several pineapple plants in the ground already. I've grown pineapples in pots before, and wow are they delicious when you grow them yourselves. I'm just curious if anyone has tried growing them in a square foot garden yet, and/or in Mel's mix? Has anyone had any luck with them?
I considered committing a small Mel's Mix crime by working in some sand since they like very sandy and acidic soils, but I haven't done that yet. Maybe using that special mix only in some pots specifically for sand/acid loving tropical plants. Any ideas or tips?
Thanks!

Re: Anyone try growing pineapples?
Mel's Mix can be used in pots. If acidic soil is need, like for blue berries or pineapple, increase the peat moss ratio to vermiculite/compost like 3:1:1. Feed with acid loving fertilzer.

Awesome, thanks for the tip. I'll give it a try.
