Mel's Mix as Seeding Mix

Mel's Mix as Seeding Mix
I use Mel's Mix as the seedling mix. If I make new mix, I use medium grade vermiculite.
I have 3 buckets of leftover Mel's Mix from rebuilding some beds so I thought I would use it this year.
I screened the old mix with a gold miner's 1/4" screening pan I bought off Amazon. Removed wood pieces, little rocks, roots, etc.
I bought some turkey pans from Dollar Store for $1.25.
Added water to make it good and moist. Covered with aluminum foil and steam baked it at 375*F for an hour. The target temp is 160*F.
Three (3) pans of screened, pasteurized MM are ready for the seed cups. I will be starting the stubborn pepper seeds and herbs this rainy weekend. Tomatoes, cucumbers, etc will be started Feb 1. There will be at least 128 seed cups plus sweet potato slips.
