Dang, I'm growing the wrong thing!
Saw this at the local store. Man, I just pulled 3 dandelions from my SFG. How did they get there? I planted them, apparently. And, no, I don't want to talk about it.

All is not lost, Mark, you can order a package of Dandelion seeds from Baker Creek to start your own field of them. They germinate in 5 days, and are ready to eat in about 6 weeks. And, since they are perennials, you will have them forever! Some of the dandelions, I understand, speak French, too.

What? Baker sells them? What a relief! Maybe I'm not responsible for my dandelion fiasco. There were four plants I started in planting pots that then turned into dandelions. I thought it was local contamination, but dandelions are pretty rare here. If I had known they were gourmet, I would have let them grow.OhioGardener wrote:

Not forever! Biologists tell us that dandelions, being clones, will only be around 10,000 years -- I can hardly wait!OhioGardener wrote:And, since they are perennials, you will have them forever!

Not to worry...you can always make dandelion tea which, I'm told, is very good for you. It's a powerful diuretic and you can mix it with your coffee. It's made from the roots and you roast them and then grind them up. It helps the body eliminate toxins more rapidly and it improves healthy kidney function. The whole plant is a medicinal warehouse.

I've been buying organic dandelions from Sprouts for several years, to juice or add to smoothies. All the time saying, I should go pick some in the field. And I"ve been thinking I should grow them.markqz wrote:Saw this at the local store. Man, I just pulled 3 dandelions from my SFG. How did they get there? I planted them, apparently.
