Has anyone tried/used Kaolin Clay for control of the Vine Squash Borer? If so, how was it applied and what has been the success rate? A nearby fruit farm uses it on the apple trees for control of various pests that damage the fruit. He claims that it has nearly eliminated fruit damage. I did some research on the web for using it for control of squash borer, but found very little information on the success of it.  I'm tempted to try it, but hate to spend so much for a large bag of it without some idea of whether or not it will work.

I used Kaolin clay for a while, it was very unsightly, thats one reason folks don't like using it. It will prevent insects from devouring growth, it also prevent harmful rays of the sun. will aid in keeping plant somewhat cooler than without it. I discontinued its use when I started making compost tea. Healthy plants by themselves will ward off many pesty  bugs, however bacteria in properly made compost tea will deter many insects from taking up residence on growth.
Kaolin Clay  will not harm plants, it is not harmful to humans. Try it for yourself and experiment, thats where the fun begins.

Thanks, Jimmy!  I, too, use compost tea, and it has been great at keeping plants so healthy that insects seldom bother them.  However, the dreaded squash vine borer is one critter that ignores such treatment - the healthier the plant, the more they love it!  And now we are being invaded by the brown marmorated stink bug, which punctures holes in the winter squash to suck the juice out of them. My neighbor, the fruit farm owner, was experiencing the same thing with the stink bugs damaging the apples to the point that they were not longer salable - that was the reason he started using Kaolin. I am going to see if I can get a small amount from him to test, rather than having to buy a 40# bag at a start.
