Hello from the Deep South!
Greetings all,
I'm from SE Georgia in Zone 8b. I had a SFG about 9 years ago and it was the best garden I've ever had. After trying many other methods throughout the years, I've found my self coming back to the SFG for good.
I planted my potatoes on 2/29, took the first picture (link below) on 3/16 and the second one on 4/1. I can't get over how much they love the SFG.

Re: Hello from the Deep South!
Hello Chris. I am in Brooks ,Ga about 25 miles south of the Atlanta Airport. I am in 8A.
I planted my potatoes on 2/23. They broke the soil on 3/9. I hilled them the first time on 3/30 and the second time on 4/4. I will let them grow a little longer and then put straw around them to help hold in moisture. I had to use season extending procedures (6 mil plastic and old timey Christmas lights) to keep the tops from freezing back. But they look healthy now.

Re: Hello from the Deep South!
Hey yolos
That's awesome! I chose not to hill mine, but I have hilled them in the past. I used a sheet to cover them this past weekend as we saw 32 for hopefully the last time this season. Where the leaves touched the sheet, they were damaged by the frost so I had to prune a good number of dead leaves. The plants still look happy, but I'm going to build PVC frames so I can drape the sheets or plastic on the bed without it touching the leaves in the future.
One note, I'm using 3x3 and 3x6 beds instead of 4x4 and 4x8.
Great to meet you!
