Patty Pan Squash
Has anyone grown Patty Pan (also called Peter Pan) squash in their SFG? If so, how should they be planted, i.e. one per square or two squares? Do they need support?

Yes, they are my favorites of all time, in fact, they were partially the impetus for me getting into SFG! Mine suffer from squash vine borers, so growing above ground/containers helps a lot. They still succumb, but at least I get a harvest.
I have grown Early White Scallop and Sunburst (yellow) varieties. They have a nutty buttery flavor that you don’t get with any other summer squash. They are trouble free in early season. Pick frequently and early! Much much more tender when harvested early.
I grow them 1/SF, maybe 1/1.5 SF if you have the room. The more room they have, the less the powdery mildew will bother them...When they get it, spray with milk 1/2 and 1/2 mixed with water. Sounds weird, but it works really well especially as a preventative!

Great résponse!
Wow, what a great answer! We are in Zone 5a and from what I read they shouldn't go into the garden until all danger of frost has passed. It has been such a cold May (frost possible tonight!) I'm guessing you follow those directives but start picking quickly. Mine are fruiting already so they might be ready once I get them planted.
Finally, where do you get your seeds?
Thanks again for your answer!

Re: Patty Pan Squash
So the first flowers you will see are all male; that is to get the pollinators on the way! The female flowers have swelling at the base of the flowers. Mini-squash!
I plant mine out 2 weeks after tomatoes/peppers, which is supposed to be next weekend, but we have been super cold here too! Might wait...
Here is where I get the majority of my seeds, but I also use Baker’s Creek and High Mowing (stay within your coldness zone)
