Hello from Fredericton, NB Canada
Hello.
I'm heading into my second year of square foot gardening. I am new to gardening. I have two 4'X8' raised beds. I am looking for information about how to recharge the existing soil in my raised beds to get them ready for planting. I'm finding lots of info but it is super overwhelming. I am hoping to find some simple solutions as to what I can add to my beds on this forum.
Looking forward learning lots.
Lucinda

Welcome to the board from Ohio, Lucinda! Glad to have you here!
If you have filled your beds with Mel's Mix, the only "recharge" they need is the addition of compost to replace the nutrients that were pulled out with vegetables, and to re-fill the level of the board.

Thanks for the reply. I did not start my garden with Mel's Mix. I am wondering what I can add to the existing soil to make it Mel's Mix-ish? Or should I remove all the soil and start from scratch?
Thanks for the tip about the Canada Regional Forum as well. I will definitely check it out.

That depends a lot on what you are starting with. Are the beds totally filled at the present time, or is there room to add soil mixture to bring the level back to the top? What type of soil is currently in the beds?
Suggestion: Start a new thread in the Canada Forum with a title of something like, "New Gardener in NB Canada", and describe your current set up and goals. Add a couple pictures if you can. This, then, will be your own thread in which we can all follow your progress and offer suggestions. There are a lot of very helpful members here.
