Re: TD - A Journey Through Prostate Cancer
And the results are in.
I got a surprise phone call at 11:30 am from my radiation oncologist. The appointment was supposed to be at 3:50 pm. The bottom line is that my PSA number is very good and he is pleased with how I am doing and the way I am managing the ADT (hormone therapy) side effects. He will consider shortening my time on ADT from a 24 month sentence down to 18 months (I expect that will be for good behaviour lol). So for now things are moving in the right direction. I will have another follow up in six months.
Thanks for your prayers and thoughts.

So Happy for you TD. On the up-slope now.
(Or should it be the down-slope. I'm sure you know what I mean.)
Keep going doing the things you do and we will continue praying for you.

Great news, TD! Keep up with the Good Behavior to get your sentence reduced even more!

So glad to hear this, TD. I don't get to this forum as much as I'd like. Each time I do, though, I always make sure to look for your latest update to see how you are doing.

Re: TD - A Journey Through Prostate Cancer
I am scheduled for a CT Scan on Friday (Sept 4th) morning. The primary purpose of the scan is to see if there has been any change to the tumor (90% likely kidney cancer) on my left kidney that was found incidentally during a CT Scan for my prostate cancer. I am praying that the tumor has stabilized or even shrunk. While the focus is to examine that tumor, the CT Scan will cover my entire abdomen and pelvic area. Last time something suspicious was also found on my right kidney. Hopefully there has been no spread (metastasis) from the prostate cancer or the kidney tumor. I am not concerned about the CT Scan process including the IV for the contrast (which can cause a reaction) but my scanxiety is increasing in relation to what will be found. I will meet with my urologist via phone on the morning of September 15 to get the results.

Re: TD - A Journey Through Prostate Cancer
TD,
I am pulling for you, just hang in there. I used to do CT's and they are quick and easy if you can stand a small IV catheter in the arm and be able to hold your breath for 15 seconds or less. Ask your oncologist and urologist to put their heads together and see if you might get a better diagnostic evaluation with a PET scan. They are real sensitive and can spot mets as small as 3mm. They usually cover everything from head to toe, so see what they think.

Here's for all the best tomorrow, and when you get the results! That is a long time to wait and wonder what the results are, that would drive me nuts while I imagined the worst. When I had my CT scan that found the cyst on the kidney, the doctor called me the very next day to tell me we needed to do a biopsy of it. But, that was years ago, before this coronavirus lockdown stuff. Here again, though, all the best!

TD,
I feel like you're a personal friend and wish you the best. In my unprofessional opinion, if you haven't had an exacerbation of symptoms, all should be well.

Re: TD - A Journey Through Prostate Cancer
Thanks. BTW this will be my third CT scan in 12 months. I am aware of some newer scanning technologies. I think they are both based on PET technology. One as you say can find mets and the other can distinguish between benign and malignant kidney tumors. I am definitely going to be asking about that. CheersYardslave wrote:TD,

TD, I've been out for a couple of days... Any update? When will they give you the results!

Re: TD - A Journey Through Prostate Cancer
Thanks. I meet by phone with the urologist on the 15th to review the results. I may be able to access the radiologist's report online through MyChart a few days before the meeting. It's always a bit scary opening up the report. However, if I know ahead of time what is in it then I can be better prepared with my questions for the urologist.AtlantaMarie wrote:TD, I've been out for a couple of days... Any update?
