Ours is still growing strong -- too bad we aren't. Old age sucks!trolleydriver wrote:Like me my SFG is winding down. I'll try to take some photos of the SFG (not me) to post.

Carrots to the left of me, parsnips to the right, here I am stuck in the middle with you.
My apologies to the Stealers Wheels band for messing with their lyrics.

BTW I have dropped 30+ pounds in weight since mid summer of 2018. Some of that was planned by cutting out junk food and sugar. The rest has occurred since my PCa diagnosis and going on a whole food plant based diet. My BMI is now down in the normal range.

We had some good music in those "hippie days.
For such a late start this spring, you have had a successful garden, my friend.

Well it looks like tonight is going to our first frost and hard one as we dip down to -2C (28F). At least the parsnips will taste sweeter after the frost.

We are cooling off tomorrow to less than 90*F. I am not sure whether our warm weather is better than your cold weather. I think we need something in the middle.trolleydriver wrote:Well it looks like tonight is going to our first frost and hard one as we dip down to -2C (28F). Nice haul, TD! I don’t think we are getting a frost tonight, but not far off!
You look good, eat well, I know you do. All that good veggie power is terrific!

After we got home tonight Mrs TD and I went out with a flashlight and brought in most of the semi-ripe and green tomatoes, as well as a few remaining peppers, before the hard frost hits. Got two bags of pickings.

Haha! I too went out yesterday and got a bunch of peppers...will freeze some Unstuffed Pepper Casserole for cooking later.
I still have some big maters out there, waiting on the big F, still not happening, so will wait.
Love your strawberry popcorn!

I tried popping one by putting it in a paper bag and microwaving it. No popcorn but almost burned the house down .sanderson wrote:TD, Have you tried popping one? Or, are they still drying?

Re: Fifth Year SFG in Canada
Third radiation treatment done today. Another one tomorrow (Friday) then I get a break for the weekend. Forecast is for a cool but sunny weekend so I need to get some more things done in the garden. Still lots if parsnips and a few carrots to bring in as well as beets, kale, chard, and raspberries. Sadly I will not be collecting and mulching leaves for composting this Fall
