Wicking Bed
I have a problem with tree roots also. Forgive my ignorance, but what exactly is a 'wicking bed'?

Just type in wicking bed in the Search box
Building the wicking bed
Sought I would just keep this post going if it has to be moved to somewhere else let me know
Photo 1: This is the bed 1.6M long x 1M wide x .4M high
Photo 2: The drain with measurements approx 6inches to bottom of drain
Photo 3: Liner installed I used pond liner for its strength you can use black plastic as a cheaper option but it wont last as long
Photo 4: Slotted drain pipe installed fill pipe top L/h of photo
Photo 5: Here I have covered the pipe with weed cloth you can use shade cloth or any thing that will stop the sand filling up the pipe and water reservoir after the weed mat i filled the middle with corse river sand to form the wick
Photo 6: Filled the void with small rocks after folding the weed mat back to the center
Photo 7: I then fill to the bottom of the drain pipe after folding the weed mat back out over the rocks and pipe
Photo 8: I now fill the tank with water till it starts running out the drain before I fill the rest of the sand in to check for leaks then top up with sand to just over the drain
Photo 9:A thin layer of Lupin mulch or leaves and the bed is ready for the SFG mix then plant out
To be continued

Thank you for posting the DIY photos.
I merged your 2 topics on wicking beds to keep the photos in one thread.

Hi Kimbo, are you still SFGing-? How are your wicking beds going? I have recently installed 2 wicking beds and plan to follow the SFG method.

You may have better luck trying their email address. They haven't posted since 2018.
