Nice, LM! I love bi-color! I have grown cream and sugar. Miss you on N&C!

Re: Corn - 'Peaches and Cream'
Thanks everyone. I meant to post this in N and Central Midwest, Not General. If someone wants to move it then please go right ahead.
Anyway, Now comes the nervous part, hoping no critters break through and destroy before harvest time. And hoping there has been enough wind for the tassles to fertilize properly. Don't think that's been a problem but we'll see.
Scorpio, I am doing SFG this year on a very sort of part time basis. I don't have a lot growing this year or I would be talking and sharing a lot more.
All My best to everyone and for a good harvest.

I get it, LM. Hoping your critters stay away! And report back on the taste!

What a Shame !! Wonder what happened ? I find this variety in the past to be very sweet.

What variety, or just bi-color? I got some last weekend at the little red barn and it was great! Sweet and crispy good!AtlantaMarie wrote:We got some a couple of weeks ago. Didn't have much taste...

Re: Corn - 'Peaches and Cream'
Different people have different wants in corn taste. To my DH 'very sweet', means no taste and he won't like it. His favorites are green field corn. So he is at one extreme of the spectrum. I am guessing that Marie might be more in the middle and llama momma might prefer the sweet end. Or the corn in question had sat around too long since being harvested or something in the growing situation etc etc.
Ahhh, Joys of summer, fussing about sweet corn flavors. We need a taste off.

Re: Corn - 'Peaches and Cream'
It was windy for days and I was wondering if the pollen might just blow away and not pollinate at all. Really I was worried. But nature found a way. Fun stuff !

Re: Corn - 'Peaches and Cream'
Thank you to all for the nice comments. As we know corn is a heavy feeder. Seeds were planted in one foot deep beds for a couple reasons. I'm not fond of watering every day and two, the bottom half was pure rotted llama manure. Mel's Mix was removed to place the manure then MM was placed back on top then corn was planted. I would highly recommend getting hold of some kind of rotted manure for the bottom of your boxes. Corn came up nice with no extra fertilizer whatsoever. I couldn't feel luckier or happier with the results.
