Re: How's the Weather Where You're At?
Yeah, we had a brief cool off. It doesn’t last. Here backin the mid-80’s to upper 80’s. Expecting rain off and on over the weekend, so glad i got the yard mowed!

Re: How's the Weather Where You're At?
It will be 104 degrees F today, the third week of July! August is suppose to be our hottest month in Southern California. Well, at least it's not 114 degrees like earlier this month and this time I am better prepared--shielded plants. Here are my Lemon Boys and Kellogg's Breakfast tomatoes protected from the sun.

Re: How's the Weather Where You're At?
110 to 112 for the next 4 days. Pool water is 93 and climbing. Just discovered a/c ducts ripped out by animals. We've been air conditioning the univers during the past several days of insane heat. I can't imagine what our elec bill will be and the fix is 4 grand. Anybody have seeds for a money tree?
Re: How's the Weather Where You're At?
So far, 19 straight days over 100*F with another 10 forecast. The good news is that the local rendering plant is operational for all the farm animal mortalities. Some three years ago, the plant had a problem and couldn't accept any for a few days.
Re: How's the Weather Where You're At?
Well, made it to NH. Humid & cool this morning. I'm guessing we'll be in the upper '80's or lower '90's this afternoon.
Re: How's the Weather Where You're At?
109 today -- 112 tomorrow. Surrounded by smoke from neighboring fires.
Re: How's the Weather Where You're At?
Wet. Very wet. There's standing water on my garden paths not because it hasn't had time to sink in, but because the ground is saturated. The MM is doing the best it can, but they are sitting in water. Some of my plants have just melted into goo. The peas are sprouting through their pods still on the vine. There have been windows of opportunity to get out and check on things, but between the drizzle, the humidity, and whatever drips off the tree and brushes off the plants, my garden clothes are barely drying from one day to the next. The forecast? More rain... I wish I could send it off to those of you who need it!

Take cover, Countrynaturals!
Sanderson, I cannot imagine 29 days at 100 degrees F in Fresno, is that your normal July? It's like living in Palm Springs, but they are getting 120 degrees F today!

Re: How's the Weather Where You're At?
Have a rain gauge? I can't tell how much your spot got, because surrounding areas likely got a lot more than you, in a single month, some places nearing 13 inches easily in a single month!BeetlesPerSqFt wrote:Wet. Re: How's the Weather Where You're At?
Here's the night view from our back deck. This fire was 24% contained this afternoon. Then it exploded and is now only 10% contained. NOT good, but we are in no immediate danger! We do have ashes on the deck and railings, however.
Re: How's the Weather Where You're At?
Temperatures in July and August are usually bouncing above and below 100*F. I think the record for consecutive days over 100*F is 21 days. We will break that record this year. We were supposed to get up to 108*F but the smoke blocked some of the sunshine so it only reached 105*. Here is the smoke from the wild fire near Yosemite Valley Park and the orange moon this evening from the particulate pollution. In the photo is looks white with a red ring but it was really a pumpkin color.Roseinarosecity wrote:countrynaturals wrote:109 today -- 112 tomorrow. Surrounded by smoke from neighboring fires.

Temps for the next five days. Daytime, mid 80's with night time temps in the mid 60's. Going to Lowe's this morning to buy some bagged compost to mix with my homemade compost and top off my beds to get ready for my fall garden.
I just can't believe summer is going by so FAST.

Gonna be 113 here today. Bad air from fires. We will be housebound fer shure.
121 degrees 3 days in a row !!
Here in Bullhead City AZ it has been 121 three days in a row and today will "cool" down to 119. You just have to stay indoors and pray the 16 year old air conditioner can handle it.

Re: How's the Weather Where You're At?
An old friend lives in AZ and showed readings of 119*F and 120*F. I would want an underground cave in temps like that!! Do you mulch and shade your garden?
Re: How's the Weather Where You're At?
Yes, but I don't do much gardening, June, July and August. Too hot to even be out there except dwn and dusk and even then it is still around 105. Miserable! but I am stuck here. My dream would be to live in a beautiful green area but then I am sure there would be other problems, tornados, hurricanes, earthquakes, ect. I can deal with the heat for 3 months. The rest of the year it is beautiful.

Re: How's the Weather Where You're At?
I totally understand. I look at everyone's green grass and green gardens and drool. But where I live in CVA, there are no tornadoes, hurricanes, earthquakes (just some jello wiggles), no SVB , just 3 months of misery and 9 months of joy, with year around gardening. Although it would be nice to have more water.patiphillips42 wrote:Yes, but I don't do much gardening, June, July and August. Cool & wet. My asthma could do without the humidity, but that's the nature of NH. I'm GRATEFUL for the cool!
Re: How's the Weather Where You're At?

Re: How's the Weather Where You're At?
The rain gauge on the weather station stopped working, and the ground is too wet to safely put the ladder up to check on it. I should put out a manual rain gauge, but sadly, I'm am perpetually short on round-tuits.RJARPCGP wrote:Have a rain gauge? I seem to get a little more rain here than the two closest stations report because of where the valleys and ridges are, but I doubt I got 13". It's not in the damage of property range, just the no-good-for-gardening range.

Flash flooding on Clinton St. in downtown Springfield, Vermont!
Springfield, Vermont, like on this date, 10 years ago, got a good T-storm! XD
(Except the one of 10 years ago, which was my first-to-be-YouTube'd video, was in the early AM, 1 AM, IIRC, LOL)
