drip systems - Best drip system and timer? Empty Best drip system and timer?

Post  csmartin33 4/7/2018, 9:46 pm

I have to be out of town for vacations and need to make sure my garden gets watered while I am away. I am worried about reliability and finding out that something bad happened while I was away.

So, looking for quality drip system and quality timer that I don't have to worry about while away?

drip systems - Best drip system and timer? Empty Re: Best drip system and timer?

I bought a drip system from dripdepot.com.  Its about half installed so far.  My beds are empty so I'm waiting for them to be full before I add the drip lines.

I spent about $150 on my system including the timer.  It will be good for my 4 beds that are a total of 104 square feet.  I ran the line from my garage out to the beds which is about 125' away.  So far running the main line out was easy peasy.

tip:  those systems use polyethylene tubing.  get a coffee mug with 2 inches of water and microwave for 1 min.  Soak the tubing for 10-15 seconds so it slides over the fittings easily.

Dripdepot has a LOT of videos to help you learn on their website.

I use a small pan of hot water for a few seconds. So much easily to slip together on when the tubing is heated a bit. drip systems - Best drip system and timer? 3170584802

I just added a standard irrigation control valve to my irrigation controller.  Ran the pvc pipe to the bed and use an in line pressure regulator to connect a standard riser to the 0.7 flex tubing. You can rearrange the flex as needed.

Main advice do not use drip heads. Use the adjustable sprayers. Anything that puts out a drip or stream tends to have the water run straight thru in mm I've found.
