jalapeno variety question?
Hello All,
For those of you that grow jalapenos, which variety of jalapeno is best for stuffing? I am looking at growing Jalapenos for making "Jalapeno Poppers" and pickling some jalapeno for sandwiches.

Hi Ryan -- I'm afraid this is more a not-this answer: I like my TAM jalapeños but I would recommend you skip them for your purposes - they are not spicy (more just jalapeño shaped/colored) and mine didn't get very big; they seem too small to bothering stuffing. I haven't tried these two varieties, but look into Jalmundo and Mucho Nacho as options.

I'm not sure if this is a hybrid or an heirloom. I looked around a little and couldn't find that answer, but it is good for poppers according to reviews. 5"

"The largest jalapeño peppers are only at Burpee! This one's the choice for stuffing poppers and making a party-worthy salsa. Use green or red, either way they are delicious and hot!"

Brianj555, I saw that Burpee "Gigante" and will most likely purchase some seeds to try.
I did try a "Mega" variety from Bonnie last year, but it did not do well. Maybe it was because it was late in the Summer season when I got it, but I was not impressed.

Yeah. Fall was my first ANSFG and I didn’t plant peppers out until July and although I did get a small amount of sweet bananas, the jalapeño plants only produced 2 peppers.NAR56 wrote:BeetlesPerSqFt and Brianj555, thanks for the comments.

I grew Early jalapeño, popper sized for sure. Productive plants. Hotter than grocery version.
