Lettuce in april Empty Lettuce in april

I am thinking I could have gotten away with planting lettuce in April this year, March almost certainly. I thought it was too late, but Now I am not sure. Did anyone do that and get a crop?

Probably not in zone 9 -- I doubt they will even sprout. I'm in 8A and all mine have bolted. I replanted the first of April to see if I might get a small crop and only three or four germinated and they haven't done anything. We've already had some 98 degree days here.

Megan - nice looking plants - you are in zone 7 -- almost two months behind us. AND what on earth is that in the middle of your bed?!?!? Looks like a mineature volcano. Lettuce in april Icon_question

Belfry...
It has been unseasonably cool here. There was no way to know that ahead of time so I did what was best based on normal years - whatever they are. It has barely broken 70 here although usually - esp where I am - one would expect it. Oh well, I am happy with what I have.

Thanks very much, and, I didn't know there was that much time between zones!

And, lol.... that is an unfortunate optical illusion from laying down coffee grounds, plus a twig marking where I transplanted a (very small!) basil this afternoon. Too dark to take more pictures but I assure you it's quite ordinary and level!
