Cucumber/lime water
I try to drink lots of water every day. But sometimes it just gets boring. Usually, I'll throw a green tea bag, or an herbal tea bag in my glass to give it a little something extra. I'm not a fan of infused waters, I'd rather eat my fruit. But I saw this on Pinterest, and with the cucumbers starting to come in faster, and a big bag of limes from Costco, that I need to squeeze and freeze into ice cubes, I thought I'd experiment. And I discovered I like it a lot. Really refreshing. There's no "recipe", just slice up some cucumbers nice and thin, and some lime, and put them in a pitcher with water and put it in the fridge. I left mine overnight, and today it really tastes and smells like cucumbers, with a hint of lime. I suppose you could even add a splash of seltzer for a little fizz. A tall, cold glass of cucumber/lime water on a hot, steamy day...it's good stuff.

What hot steamy day? I feel like it's fall, fer cryin out loud.
This sounds lovely, HG. My first water of the morning, before coffee, has lemon or lime squeezed into it. Maybe I'll add some cuke slices.
Lately I've been adding ginger kombucha to my water and I love it. Especially if the kombucha is really strong like this last batch was. I add 1/4 kombucha to 3/4 water and drink it while on the exercise bike and another one at work.

LOL, I know what you mean! I should have said for when it gets to be hot and steamy again.

+1 I think I will try some as I have a half of a lime and lots of cucumbers!countrynaturals wrote:Sounds wonderful!
Follow-up: Done. I sliced up one Pickling and squeezed half lime and put it in the refrig. I have some personal-sized Canada Dry tonic water (sweetened quinine).
Re: Cucumber/lime water
With the kind of heat you've been having, I think you'll enjoy it. One tip, I wouldn't make more than you can drink in one day. By day two, mine was kind of cloudy, and the rind from the lime had made the water a little bitter. I think next time, I'll squeeze the lime juice into the water, instead of adding slices.sanderson wrote:+1 I think I will try some as I have a half of a lime and lots of cucumbers!countrynaturals wrote:Sounds wonderful!

Re: Cucumber/lime water
Thanks for the tip. Maybe I can eat the "limey" cucumbers this evening or lunch tomorrow. I used a large pickle jar, maybe 3 large glasses worth.
