Happy Independence Day!
We in the US are celebrating our freedoms today. Happy Independence Day!
But we can ALL celebrate our independence by gardening. We're not dependent on grocery stores for our fruits & veggies. We're free from pesticides & herbicides (if we choose not to use those things). We have the freedom to grow what we want.
Just a different perspective...
Be safe. Have fun! Enjoy the day!

Free to have relationships with the animal life in and around our gardens, instead of depending on suppliers that exclude/kill everything.
'Photoshopped' my beetle avatar for the day to celebrate!

Happy 4th of July, Everyone!
There's a slim chance that we can see the fireworks from the master bedroom balcony of the new house. From the back corner of the old property, we can see just a little bit through the trees, but not enough to make it worth dragging chairs out. At 10pm tonight, I'll be hiking over to the new place with my flashlight to check it out.

Re: Happy Independence Day!
I am happy to have so many friends in the U.S.A. On this SFG Forum, The Elephant Sanctuary Forum, the friends my husband and I made through the Royal Canadian Legion and the V.F.W. and not forgetting the friends we met through the Air Bases in England when we had thanksgiving Dinners with them and found that they held their knives and fork differently to we English and found that one should not eat burgers with a knife and fork.
Thanks to you lovely Americans, I am now tri-scriptual; I can write in English-English:, Canadian-English and American English.

Re: Happy Independence Day!
Here's the view from our new front porch. There's a tree blocking the view from both of the side-facing decks, so I was really bummed. Then Bob called me out to the front of the house, and the view from there was completely unobstructed. YEE-HAH! We watched the whole show from right by our own front door. The party's at our house next year!countrynaturals wrote:Happy 4th of July, Everyone!

Well, I'd say nothing's changed since I wrote this original post....

Re: Happy Independence Day!
The only thing that has changed for us, AM, is that we are saving more money now than ever by being independent from grocery stores. For example, the other day I stopped at the grocery store to get some milk, and walked through the produce dept to check on current prices. They had bunches of Green Onions, with 5 onions per bunch, for $1.29. I have over a hundred of those growing in the raised bed from a packet of seed that cost me $2.75. At the price of them in the grocery store, 100 of those onions in my garden would be worth about $26.00.

Happy 4th of July, everyone! Celebrate America’s birthday today! And enjoy your gardens, as OG said—we are so lucky to be able to grow our own food, and it’s so much better!

Happy Independence Day! We are blessed, and doubly blessed because we have our own little (or big) gardens.
