Cover grape fruit to save from birds
Somewhere recently, I read an article that recommended covering the grape clusters with paper lunch bags to keep the birds from eating the grapes.
Have any of you done this or something similar and did it help you to save the grapes?

Re: Cover grape fruit to save from birds
My grapes are still too young to produce, but I'm going to try little tulle drawstring bags to protect my strawberries. Not sure if it would work for grapes or not but it might be worth a try with larger size bags.
Re: Cover grape fruit to save from birds
This will be the first year my concord vines will fruit. I'm wicked excited about this. They are flowering now. I didn't even know the birds would go after them. Guess I'll hang that black netting I use for everything in front of them when the time comes, as they are growing up against the house.
Thanks for the heads up!

Re: Cover grape fruit to save from birds
Last year was the first year that my young vines produced. I was able to grab and taste TWO of the many fruits, the catbirds and mockingbirds got the rest (maybe some other bird species that I didn't see). This year is going to be different! Some how, some way!

You might check Tractor Supply for bird netting. It's a royal pain to play with, but we got 6 gallons of blueberries last year, compared to the 3 we usually get....
