Consider worm castings in your compost mix.
Also, there are other resources in California that are available to you that will help you improve your compost if you cannot get enough different varieties. Check into Boogie Brew. You can get special offers by going through the Growing Your Greens portal.

While you are at it, I highly recommend looking at the Growing Your Greens site. John Kohler takes Square Foot Gardening to the extreme. His entire front and back yard is dedicated to raised bed SFGs.
