There are a few older and younger ones scattered throughout that list but it sure looks strange.llama momma wrote:Admins. Please take a look at the bottom of the home page birthday announcements....
I checked some of the profiles for those supposedly turning 47 within a week and discovered that they all have the same birthday which is listed as 1969-12-31. I'm wondering if that is a default date that the system uses if the the member does not specify a birthday when registering.

Good catch LM. They are mainly in the Birthdays within a week section.

I missed the "Users with a birthday within the next 7 days" subtitle, so I have edited my earlier post accordingly.
CN ... I'm with you on turning back the clock.

I looked at these a couple of days ago. Most seem to have commercial-type usernames, many from Florida, and all I saw were created in late September of this year. Is there any way to tell if they're legitimate registrations or just a bunch of false ones? I'm not tech savvy enough to know if there would be any benefit of someone generating a mass of faux registrations on this kind of forum.

I've been a member just over 6 years. I remember 3 of those names from the past who were contributing members. Janezee(110), she was full of humor that was not her age. Wapner was a real member and so was Windmere, who was already mentioned. Maybe this info will help a little. I also know who possessed the knowledge and in particular, the arrogance to screw with this forum. I don't have proof, but the person did enjoy showing off around here This 'smells' exactly like something they would do. Admin. can pm me if you want that name. Thank you, LMGinger Blue wrote:trolleydriver wrote:There are a few older and younger ones scattered throughout that list but it sure looks strange.llama momma wrote:Admins. Re: 350 people turning 47 next week? I Think Not!!
I just did a sampling of about 40 of those age 47 "business members". It looks like they started to be added on September 23rd and the last one in my sampling was October 13th. On Sept 23 there were 5 added out of the 40 sampled and again on Sept 29. On the random days between Sept 23 and Oct 13 there were usually 2 or 3 out of the 40 added. I wonder if someone is getting paid to add these businesses to our membership.

Just talked with a computer guru - a date of zero "0" is read by linux (a computer operating system) astrolleydriver wrote:There are a few older and younger ones scattered throughout that list but it sure looks strange.llama momma wrote:Admins. January 1st 1970 at midnight GMT. That translates to 1969-12-31 in the US in the late evening. I put in my birthday as 0 - so if you see my handle in that mess, that points to this (a default date) being at least part of the situation.

Correct Beetles.
Someone posted the following on another forum on the Interweb:
"January 1, 1970 is the so called Unix epoch. It's the date where they started counting the Unix time. If you get this date as a return value, it usually means that the conversion of your date to the Unix timestamp returned a (near-) zero result. So the date conversion doesn't succeed. Most likely because it receives a wrong input."

This evening I deleted 1/2 of the bogus members.
So far I know where to get a facelift, augmentation, gutters cleaned, dental-medical-legal attention, septic tank pumped and senior care housing!

Thanks for the hard work sanderson. I would like to lend a hand but I don't have the required forum privileges.

Sanderson, this is where I would never aspire to being a Forum Administrator. I would wreck the Forum.
Thank Heaven we have people like you.

So maybe that is why they have not given me the extra forum privileges. I may push the wrong button or pull the wrong lever and there goes the forum.Kelejan wrote:Sanderson, this is where I would never aspire to being a Forum Administrator. I would wreck the Forum.![]()

Dear folks, thanks. But, I am not the most forum-tech savvy Admin. I still get excited when I successfully do something.
Thanks goes to everyone for your patience and good forum manners.
