Ok here it is folks our first patch of garlic from start to finish.  The humidity forced us to scramble for a solution and we are thrilled with our answer.  Take a peek and let us know what yall think as wwe prepare to do it again.

Peeling most of your harvest?? Sticky, stinky fingers for sure. The infused oil should be great for cooking. I mince and dehydrate extra cloves. Sometimes grind it up for garlic powder.

Great ideas all sanderson thanks.  When friend Sam discribed how wonderful the olive oil garlic was it sounded very good he said it always kept well till he used it up and that the oil was also wonderful in salads and cooking.  We didn't realize the work but it was a fun rewarding project.  Thats easy to say now that its over.  We are excited to reclaim our garden boxes from the steamy summer rains and replant our crop.

Good luck.  If it ever stopps raining we will reclaim and prepare our boxes.  The summer patern of heat and humidity and almost daily rain has really floored us
The gardens are weed choked and in need of repair but i\we just cant do it.  I hate playing in the mud.  We plan to put in a couple new boxes, repair and enlarge a old one and etc etc.  But first it needs to dry up.

Looks beautiful and yummy, Cappy! We use garlic infused olive oil for salads all the time. We crush the garlic before putting it into the oil. It's in the oil for only a day and it's only enough oil for that night. It's so delicious!

The garlic in olive oil seems to have kept well and its really good. We may try canning it in the future and seems I remember it canned in vinegar from my youth we may try that in the future.

Record heat but slightly lower humidity I consider this the beginning of the fall but the heat is still brutal.  We are excitedly making plans for our fall garden revival pulling all the weeds that have taken over and the veggies that have given up and reworking our garden boxes.  The garlic patch is 15 years old and has had many incarnations begore it became garlic.  The frame is beginning to rot badly spurred on by record rains.  We may replace it this fall pends on what we find when we weed and work the soil.  If we do replace it we will go from 4x4 to 4x6 and fill it with garlic again.  We have other plans too but it will take fall weather to do them.  We will of course keep ya posted.

This Years Garlic crop Empty The new garlic box

Post  Cajun Cappy 11/6/2016, 4:48 am

We replaced the 4x4 box with a new 4x6 box filled it up with peet and miricle grow garden soil and some compost and some organic fertilizer its what was on sale.  Put card board under the expanded area. We went to the garden center and bought some of that expensive garlic for planting and at 9 to the foot the stuff we bought planted exactly half the box.  Some of the toes were bad.  Waht to do? 30 miles to the garden center so i went to the grocery store and bought some. Planted the back half of the bed with that.  now its 2 weeks later many of the store bought ones are showing and growing.  The expensive garden variety.........2

Soon as we finish the last project we are gonna do a massive report full of pictures and videos and such.  When we do I'll let yall know.
