New SFG $19.00 @ Wal-Mart

I couldn't pass it up at half price. It's only 5.5 inches high but it will make a nice salad bed.
I'm thinking about using it for a "food is free" box out by the street. I'll post pics when I get it together and ready to plant.

It just slides together. No tools except to drill the holes for the corner caps. I'm putting it together now. Just had to come in for a break.
Wife wants to go get another one while they still have them. I'll post pics when it's done.
(wish it was a 4x4).. Very Happy

I got my new 42x42x5.5 "lettuce bed together. Not bad for $19.00 @ Wal-Mart Going to get it planted today.

Your beds look so tidy... And that flat yard! I'd be trying to talk DH into converting the whole yard if ours were that flat, lol!

We have another good size flat spot out by the street and my wife wants to fill it with SFG.
I must admit, it's a LOT of work mixing and filling the beds with MM and as the old saying goes, "I aint git'n no younger"... lol

The beds are not discounted on their website. My wife saw them at Wal-Mart for $19.00. The Wal Mart near us still have about 5 or 6 left for $19.00.. Good luck.

We saw the galvanized one and also a black plastic one.

Looks real nice.

I would stay away from galvanize because from my experience* it contains lead. You can check by buying a Lead Check Swab (R) in a paint department. *Retired Lead Inspector/Assessor.

Its all new MM in the new bed. The MM I removed from the beds to make room for compost was used in my new 2x8 Garlic bed. I mixed in 5 buckets of 5 different kinds of bagged compost with it.

I planted the new 4x4 sfg yesterday with 4 Chinese cabbage on the North side, 4 squares of "Green Ice" leaf lettuce, 4 squares of spinach and 4 squares of Butter crunch lettuce.

Are you talking to me? If so, DH was in construction for many years after he was an NBC decontamination guy in the Army. He knows all SORTS of interesting information. Even after 22+ years, I learn from him all the time.

Marie, His former career sounds really interesting. My years as a health inspector in many different programs (except Haz Mat) were also such a learning environment.

Yup. Only 4 tenths yesterday but looking for a lot more in the next few days. Been planting my fall/winter crop all day. C'mon fall.

My husband went to a Walmart and returned home to say he saw some beds for only $5.00 and did not purchase them! I said what?? New SFG $19.00 @ Wal-Mart 950477

Since then he has been going around to local Walmart stores and also went to one in Orchard Park, NY (we are currently visiting our sons and family).
He feels so bad that every time he sees a Walmart he stops to look for a box.

Now you have me thinking about going to Wal-Mart this morning. I wish I had bought more of the cedar boxes when they were $19.00. They are only 5 1/2 inches high but they are stackable.
