Tree limbs? Empty Tree limbs?

Post  Bart 7/12/2016, 2:24 pm

Hi Folks,

I have a power shredder, hence a pile of shredded tree limbs. Is that okay to put in the compost pile?

Or maybe use it as a mulch.

Yes, but those ramial wood chip things are much sought after as mulch, especially by the Back To Eden folks.....

Bart, Yes, you can put the chips in a compost pile with sufficient greens/nitrogen, but it will take months to break down. A pile of wood chips can also be used to cover the isles or as mulch (first sprinkle a thin amount of composted manure so the chips don't take the nitrogen from your Mel's Mix).

Are they ramial chips (with green leaves) or just dry wood limbs shredded? Either way, what a nice score.
