Re: Mels book
The same year that my DH bought me this same book. It will always have a place on my bookshelf, and I still refer to it at times.
Re: Mels book

Re: Mels book
You know, I did the original SFG at my old place based on the original book from the library. Never owned it. I watched the PBS show religiously, I was in grad school, and the SFG was my therapy.
I would love to have the original book....I loved that garden, I had never had anything produce like that baby. It was 6x6. (Nostalgic moment)

Re: Mels book
I bought the original back in 1992. By 1999, I actually had some good tomatoes. Then, I bought a condo and had to leave them behind.

That is the one I got in the 1982. I had joined the Rodale Press Book Club and got a lot of good gardening tomes that way. I used that book for years and then gave it to someone in need. I now have the 2005 edition, almost as good as the original.
My first SFG garden was a 10' x 10' area with four 4x4 blocks. It did well, except the corn.

Re: Mels book
Last night I went online and bought the original SFG book from a discount book store (bookoutlet.com). Got it for about half the price that it was being sold for in the bricks and mortar bookstore here in Ottawa. Had to pay shipping but I also bought some other books (including a Microgreens book) for which there were no additional shipping charges.

I am currently in a discount book store in St.Catharines, Ontario. Of course I gravitate to the gardening section. And there it was! Mel's High-Value Veggies Book. My eyes lit up especially when I saw the sticker price. I am paying just $6.99 in Canadian dollars.

Yup. The regular price in Canada is $21.99 in Canadian dollars so I got a good discount.sanderson wrote:Score!
