Thanks Kelejan, I forgot about the equinox. I'm not sure about the depth yet, depends on the materials I buy.

Don't forget that the angle and track of the sun is different in the winter and summer. At least down here in the south it is. Today the solar elevation in Brooks, Georgia is 61°.
Solar elevation in Belleville, Ontario, Canada is 51°.

I think that every place in the world at the same time has a different angle and elevation of the sum.
The next day every place in the world at the same time has yet another different angle etc. etc.
I think that during the total year, every place in the world has an equal quantity of light from the sun. But not the same total of heat. That only applies if all the earth is at the same elevation, in other words, Flat. Then there would not be any shadows like that hill that sits to the north of my garden and cuts off the sun compared to my friend who lives about three hundred yards away from me and gets far more sun in his garden than I ever do and every thing in his garden is two weeks ahead of mine and the spring and two weeks long than mine in the fall.
Do my ramblings make any sense?

Wild turkeys are super cool! DDT did away with the big birds, but in the last 20 years, I now see bald eagles regularly, and in the rural areas, turkeys are really making a comeback!
