Mid-Atl - Jan 2016 - Happy New Year!
I just wanted to take a moment to wish everyone a Happy New Year!
What will you be trying this year that's NEW to you? A new variety of an old favorite? Something you've never grown before?
I'll be trying a couple new tomato varieties and a pygmy amaranth.
Here's a Cosmic Eclipse tomato:
And here's a Pygmy Torch Amaranth:
I have seen women looking at jewelry ads with a misty eye and one hand resting on the heart, and I only know what they're feeling because that's how I read the seed catalogs in January - Barbara Kingsolver - Animal, Vegetable, Miracle

I have been looking at growing Amaranth also. I am growing it in my micro-green mix and it is so pretty in the mix. I looked on line to see about buying it for my garden but there are a gazillion varieties and I couldn't decide. I want it to eat the leaves in the summer in a salad. Any suggestions.

That tomato is soooo pretty. I wonder what it tastes like! You'll have to keep us informed.
This year I'm trying: Cherokee purple tomatoes, New York Early onion, Dragon's Tongue bush beans, Hidatsa Shield dry beans, and as many pepper varieties as I can fit in my new mini 2x4 green house! Yay!

Looks like Amaranth is a common theme here. I'll be trying the Kerala Red from Baker Creek.
Yolos - it's a leaf type. PM me know if you want some seed.
