If I build it... will they come?
Well I did it, I built myself a little butterfly garden. Got a good listing from a local garden center of plants in our area to add to the butterfly garden, both nectar (for food) and host plants for the caterpillars. Its good to go.
So now... do I just wait? Will they come? How do they find their way to my butterfly resort without the internet!!

Maybe an ad in craig's list - under "gigs"?
I planted a butterfly bush and other goodies and somehow (word of antennae?) they came - along with humingbirds. Makes you wonder.

I never had a butterfly or a hummingbird in our yard, I had some flowers but not the right ones, then I planted flowers the butterflies and hummingbirds liked and THEY CAME!

Yes they will come!
I planted a butterfly garden right smack dab in the middle of the backyard last year and almost as soon as I finished they began to arrive. By summer's end we literally had hundreds of Gulf Fritillary caterpillars and butterflies doing their thing. It was great and my kids LOVED it. I wish I had done it YEARS ago.
I've got a photo of it here: http://www.timsbackyard.com/2010/03/creating-butterfly-garden.html

Gorgeous garden. Nice use of space. I will be OK if in the end I have no grass left and all trees and garden.
