New guy from Texas
Been lurking around for a while thought it was time to say hello.
Little background on me. Been retired for just over four years and loving every moment of it. Little gardening experience but did have a great row garden two years ago and then because of health problems I have not not done any the last couple years.
Still plan to do some row grading this spring for peas mostly but will be doing some raised beds. Matter of fact just finished up my 2nd one today and have carrots and bush beans planted in one and the first one I planted squash 17 days ago and they are doing well. Up at least 10". Just have to keep the water going.
Made my beds 2x10' 8"deep. Was not able to find the better compost I and others would prefer but so far everything is going good.
Built a metal 55gal compost barrel and have it full of some good stuff I hope.
Sorry for the long winded intro.

Welcome to the forum. Looks like you are on your way. I presume you have Mel's latest book? Quite different from the the earlier one.

Just Piddling, Welcome to the Forum from California!
Please, we like to know a little about new members, past gardening experience, hopes, dreams and desires.
You mention health problems. Do you mean like mobility / flexibility problems? Table top beds are a great way to save the back, knees and hips. I'm short, 5'3", and my raised beds are 2' high. A tad low for planting (I sit on a stool for that) but great management/picking height for the plant and produce.
PS When you have a moment, please add a city or town to your Location so we have a better idea of your growing environment.

Hey, Dwight, Welcome from Ohio!
I agree, read the Mel Bartholomew books, tons of great information in all of them. I had the first one back in the day, and recently bought the All New 2nd Ed. and it is very different!
Sounds like you are off to the races, glad you joined us!
