Southern California newbee
Welcome from Hawaii. I second Sanderson's comment that this has to be one of the kindest forums ever. My husband and I once gardened in Irvine and our plants flourished. That was when Irvine was full of orange groves and acres of wonderful veggies. Sighhhhs

Hey Molasses, Welcome! This is the best group of experts you will ever get to know! I have learned so much. I do highly recommend you read one of the books by Mel Bartholomew, preferably in my opinion "The All New Square Foot Garden" either the first or 2nd Ed.
Just the best ever advice to get off on the right foot,

Welcome! And you can always contribute to the discussions. A question is a contribution, and for every person who asks a question, there are probably a dozen more who have the same question and would love to find an answer for it! And everyone likes to hear that their garden looks lovely, or get a little internet pat on the shoulder when one of their projects goes wonky or something goes wrong. And even with the really experienced people ... something always goes wrong!
So you can be shy or quiet, but don't feel obligated!

Hey!!!!!
I am from South Carolina also (central). There is a lot of information on the Clemson extension website. It has spring and fall planting charts etc. I pulled up more than half my spring garden due to vine borers and am in the process of planting for fall. I am going by there recommendations. South Carolina is broken down into 3 regions according to them. Wish you the best.

Hi Molasses. Welcome from Atlanta, GA (there's a few of us from this area). I think you'll find that folks here are very helpful and awfully friendly. Fire away with any questions. Folks here are eager to help. Like most gardeners, we could go on about gardening for hours. (ha ha)
