Asparagus

You old timers might remember that I cajoled a North Carolina asparagus grower into sending me some Jersey Knights. No other company will send them to Hawaii. Supposed to be all male. They have been prolific. Now the beds are getting full of female plants!! We are tagging them and propose to move them to another area. I will do some web searching but does anyone have some ideas about this?

My understanding is that males can put their energy into spears and females concentrate on making seed, which we have aplenty. We do get some spears from females.

I also ordered Jersey Knight almost 2-1/2 years ago. I've had a pretty good harvest this year, but many of the spears do produce seeds. In the fall, they turn red.
