This formerly healthy plant got hit with the blight and succumbed really fast. I cut off the yellowing leaves and sprayed with copper fungicide over the last couple of weeks, but it got worse.
Should I pull it before it spreads to my other plants? It's a hybrid big boy.
This picture doesn't show how bad it really looks.

Once blight hits, it's doomed, just a matter of time. Pull it out, keep using the copper to prevent the fungus taking hold on the healthy plants. Good luck.

This may be the wrong place to ask this question, but I just discovered that my previously healthy turnip plant leaves are covered with a white powder! I am new and never tried to grown turnips. I decided to grow them for their greens which were phenomenal (for my tortoise). They have been in the ground (started from seed in March) for a long time and I had no idea when to harvest. I pulled a couple and they were small and very peppery. I know that they would probably do better planted in the fall. Anyway, when I cut away all the "infected" leaves, a lot of white powder was raining down. There are a lot apparently healthy leaves underneath but now I am thinking I should just pull everything. I did spray surrounding plants with a Neem organic spray I had that says it would kill white mildew. What should I do.? I am leaving in the morning for 4 days and DH won't be able to handle this part. Sorry I didn't take a pic.

You could have spider mites.  I am also in Southern California and it is possible that you have spider mites.  Did you also notice some tiny yellow spots in your leaves?  Spraying your plants top side and underside with the water wand every three days has helped my tomato plants.  I don't use Neem.

I don't think so. I'm pretty sure it's blight. Leaves and stems turn yellow, Some brown spots, then wilt. No in between here. Either too much rain and then a hot humid steam bath when the sun comes out. I'm in Georgia. I noticed this old time farmer around here never sets his tomatoes out until the end of May...after the drenching days on endof spring rain are over. I'm seriously thinking I should follow suit. Blight is pretty bad here.

I have been thinking about the same thing - delaying planting.  But then you have the hot days of summer and some tomatoes will not set in the extreme heat.  This year, with all the rain we have had, I considered putting a plastic cover over the top of the tomato plants but leaving the sides open.  This at least will keep water off the plants which the blight organisms need to multiply.  Also, we have very heavy dew and this would keep the dew off the plants.

I thought of that, too, but too late. There's always next year...sigh. I just hope they all hang in long enough to get some fruit. I really want home grown tomatoes.
I thought of putting them in large pots on wheels or something like that, so I could move them out of the rain into my covered porch. We're talking desperate here.
Last year (my first gardening year) was pretty blah for tomatoes, until near fall when my Anahu tomato plant took off and saved the day.

Try a tomato wagon like this.
What should I do with this plant? Tomato10

I used it one fall to extend the season.  Maybe I will try it next spring.  Roll it into the garage in bad weather and outside on nice warm days.  No leaves or branches on the bottom because of blight.

Great idea. It's like a race to the top with the dreaded blight. Isn't it amazing how they'll manage to produce anything at all. Those tomatoes look pretty darn good.

Sorry, I have never learned to quote in this forum, but, here goes.  My response was for MOMVET who is in Southern California where we don't get blight at this time in the season.  She also posted in this same post.

And, I don't know how to cancel a post I started, so I just log out and then log back in.

MomVet, Neem oil or milk can be used for powdery mildew. Neem also can be used for spider mites. So your Neem oil should/could take care if you have either of these.

I had powdery mildew on my zukes last year.  Milk definitely helped, but you gotta catch it quick!  And keep spraying...

Yes, but put it in spray bottle first. I also use 1:1 with water.

Yes, Neem hurts bees. Hence, spray when they are not around and it can dry out before their visits. I usually use it near evening twilight.

Please read and follow the label directions. Neem is organic, but that doesn't mean safe. It is after all, a product that kills.
