Mothers Day Breakfast
Happy mother's day to all the wonderful mothers out there.
We are taking my wife's mother (96) out for a late lunch and short drive so I decided to make a lavish breakfast for my wife. Well, not that lavish but I am not the worlds best cook. I cooked applewood smoked uncured, center cut, dry rubbed bacon, very thick, with a frittata made with asparagus, potatoes and rosemary, dill goat cheese. We had cheese bread toast with homemade chunky peach jam and topped off with the last of my homemade V-8 juice. It was outstanding (brag, brag).
But to top it all off we had iceberg lettuce:
Yes we had snow last night, the lettuce is the Chinese lettuce my friend from China gave me.

Re: Mothers Day Breakfast
Such a wonderful Mother's Day breakfast for your wife and taking your mother in law to lunch. I am sure they appreciate everything you do!
I love your Chinese lettuce in the snow!!

Ah Yes
Happy Mother's Day to all who are.
Colorado is so wonderful. There are places where you can ski 12 months out of the year and also play golf 12 months out of the year without leaving your county of residence.
If you love greens, which ounce for ounce are probably the best thing to grow in a SFG, then Colorado is a perfect place to grow super tasty greens.
Our greens are begging to take a vacation to Colorado, because we have had three consecutive days in the 90's, and our maker decided to divert the thunderstorm moving northeast from Memphis, dividing it like the red sea, with half going north to Kentucky and half going south to Alabama.
We put crushed ice on a lot of our lettuce, kale, beets, collards, turnips, and mustard greens. The romaine is still okay, but some of the mesclun wilted even after being watered twice yesterday.
We have been "blessed" with yet another day in the 90's today. It is really early for our lawn to start looking like it is going to turn brown, and the dirt is starting to crack. Our 55 gal. rain barrel is now bone dry.
