Ginger and tumeric
My wife found a video on facebook on growing ginger and turmeric. I went to Whole foods yesterday an got both roots. I'm going to try even though it is grocery store stuff and not the good stuff from wherever you can get it. Anyway has anyone else tried to grow either of these?

Re: Ginger and tumeric
Turmeric is considered a tropical plant, and needs a lot of heat. I grew a grocery store root indoors under lights. It has a long time to maturity, 8-10 months.
My harvest was about 5x what I planted. (I think that's smaller than typical.) We don't use enough turmeric to justify the space indoors.

I think my wife said it helps with that disease that makes you so forgetful but I can't remember what it's called.

Understood...it's called C.R. and a third letter that escapes me at the moment.

I tried growing ginger but it stalled from lack of heat. I gave up. If I lived in FL I would grow both.

Re: Ginger and tumeric
I found a small piece of ginger at Sprouts this morning with 5 eyes on it. Should sprout pretty well. And if it doesn't grow... I wasted 4 cents... I can live with that.
