New Kids on the Block!
Happy Spring from chilly southern Maine!
I was thrilled to stumble across this forum when looking for SFG spacing for some of our seeds. We've practiced SFG more and more as we try to grow most of what we eat from our tiny plot of land year round (meat, dairy, and toddler snacks not included!). What started with 2- 4x8' raised beds has bloomed into 6- 4X8', 2- 10X10, 1- 8x4, 1- 10x4 beds, a perennial kitchen garden, an asparagus patch, 2 strawberry patches, blackberries, cherries, and a mini orchard with a peach, plum, and 4 apple trees. We also have tons of flowers, but you can't eat flowers, so I'll rarely talk about them!
SFG changed my life when I found I could grow as much as we used to grow in our (MUCH) larger garden at our previous home in a much smaller area with MUCH less effort when it came to weeding, watering, and caring for the plot! This is critical when trying to raise a human (our son is now 6, AKA the Littlest Helper or Captain Sassy Pants), chasing 2 fur babies (our Boston terriers... AKA the Nasties or the Black & Whites), and working full time. Thankfully our tiny little plot seems to fit our tiny little family just right for now! Plus, the family that gardens together, stays together AND you get tomatoes!
I look forward to sharing, learning, and growing... thanks for adding us to the conversation!
Happy planting!

Its so nice to see another New Englander in the group. You sound like a busy woman with a busy life and lots of good food to eat. Go for it.

Anyway, from Kelejan,
It seems like a lot, but when the littlest helper thinks it's fun to play in the garden, it makes it SO much easier to find time! Plus, gardening is cheaper than therapy AND you get veggies! There is very little work stress that can't be sorted out with my hands in the dirt and the sun at my back....
