Got my big project done and my class cancelled on me yesterday...  so I FINALLY got some seeding done.

Lemon & Lime Basil for the back deck
Waltham 29 broccoli
Early Jersey cabbage
Resina Calendula
Hales Best cantaloupe
German Chamomile
Cumin
Rosa Bianca eggplant
Cherry Rose nasturtium
Walla Walla onions

Hopefully it'll be pretty on Monday & Tuesday so I can get the garden ready.  (Got classes & stuff the rest of the week/weekend.  Besides, it's raining again...)

DH is so funny....  He tells me that we "cannot, absolutely cannot" spend any money on the garden this year.  I've got to make due w/ what I've already got.

Fine, no problem on my end.

So we're at Wallyworld the other night and he ends up getting me a rack for my seedlings that fits on top of a desk we've got in front of our east-facing window in the dining room.  And it's HIS idea!  AND, since there's room, he's offered to get another one!

I love my hubby.............. Smile Razz

Up-potted the tomatoes & mini-bells this morning.  Also the aloe & rosemary.

I've got broccoli, cabbage, the basils, calendula & some of the onions poking out.

Everybody's been able to go outside and soak up some sun the last couple of days.

In the garden, I found some of the onions & shallots made it thru the winter.  The lemon thyme is not happy, but it's still there.

And, as warned, my bee balm has been spreading...  I'm just going to let it go on for a while.

My peach "tree-shrub" is in full bloom.  Yesterday there was a low hum coming from all the bees collecting pollen.  I could hear it a few feet away!

The blueberries should be in full bloom within the week.

I've managed to get bed 1 cleaned up, filled up & de-rooted.  Bed 2 is de-rooted, de-grubbed (1/2 doz white grubs), and almost ready to go.  The rain today should settle the MM in both boxes so I can get planting sooner rather than later.

I was really surprised by all the worms I found!  I think they're in a little shock from being moved around the last couple of days...  But they'll get over it.  Especially with the rain today.   Rolling Eyes

Accuweather.com is saying that Middle-south will have a couple of mid-30 nights toward the end of the month.  But it looks like the frost is over...  I think I'll wait till the beginning of April & take another look before planting though...

Marie, you and I are in the same boat... in more ways than one.

First, I too have only recently begun getting seeds planted.  I now have some pretty robust tomato seedlings (depending on variety... some are stronger than others).

We are trying to brighten our front yard with color, so we have lot of flowers going.  Also basil, oregano (goodness those seeds are microscopic!), sage and catnip.  I believer the sage and oregano were courtesy of you from our last seed trade (thank you again!).  Oh, and I'm experimenting with heat resistant varieties of lettuce (Red Cash, Ruby Red, Jericho and Summer Bibb).

Second, this year my wife and I have established a Mel's Mix budget of $100.  I'm afraid I'm gonna run above budget, but probably only about 20 bucks or so.  In terms of seeds, as you know, I'm pretty much set for life (unless another new hybrid is advertized in the dastardly tempting catalogs).
